The first red carpet of the Awards Season usually sets the tone for next season to come in terms of fashion and beauty. And the 2020 edition did not disappoint!

Last Sunday, January 5th, the Golden Globes 2020 awarded the best of film and television. The Gala was held at the Beverly Hilton hotel but the winners were not the only important thing of the night.

As usual, the looks chosen by the celebrities for the ceremony were as important as the awards and set the guidelines for the upcoming seasons in terms of fashion and beauty. And what a trendsetting this sole event was! Although the looks were not that risky compared to other events or even other editions of the Golden Globes, the designers did not miss the opportunity to set some trends for the Spring 2020 Season that will absolutely be adopted by everyone.

Tulle:

Sexy and feminine, the Golden Globes 2020 have been filled with all different kinds of ways to wear tulle. Layers, trains, puff sleeves….you name it! This lightweight material is a timeless princess-inspired trend that has been absent for some years from the red carpet but thanks to the inspiration of the "Notes on Camp" edition of the MET Gala in 2019, it's making its triumphal return. Sofia Carson, Leslie Bibb, Thomasin McKenzie, Kirsten Dunst, Gwyneth Paltrow and Dakota Fanning were some of the beautiful ladies that chose this material for the GG2020.

Plunging V Neckline:

Since the last couple of seasons, it seems that the lower the neckline, the better. The Plunging V Neckline is a glamorous, sexy and modern trend that everybody is loving and a lot of celebrities couldn't refuse to use to walk the red carpet. Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Brosnahan, Phoebe Waller, Marin Hinkle, Winnie Harlow, Christina Applegate and Bel Powley chose outfits with this sexy details. But maybe the look that stand the most was Salma Hayek's.

Bows and Knots:

Directly from the runways of Paris Fashion Week, some of the looks were filled with bows and knots. Perhaps the look that showed it the most was that of Jennifer Lopez, who walked the red carpet in a Valentino dress with two huge bows, one gold in front and one in English green just below the first. Also Scarlett Johansson and Michelle Williams.

Bright Colours:

Although the red carpet was filled with dark outfits, it was also surprisingly filled with very bright coloured outfits. Besides the traditional reds, also tones like gum pink, lime and emerald greens, purple, sky-blue, golden, orange and bright yellow were seen.

Bob (short and long):

Fashion isn't the only thing that can become a trend in Golden Globes. Hairstyle usually makes its way to the headlines and this 2020, a haircut caught everyone's attention (and caused a revolution at hair salons around the world): it's the Lob, which is a bob cut but a little longer. But there were a lot of Bob cuts too! Zoey Deutch, Zanna Roberts Rossi, Jeannie Mai, Kirsten Duns, Lucy Boyton, Charlize Theron, Michelle Williams, Reese Witherspoon, Margot Robbie, Helen Mirren, Saorise Ronan, Kerry Washington, Kristin Cavallari... the list could go on an on! Hollywood fell hard for Bob and Lob!

Bulky sleeves:

Some designers and fashion experts say they didn't see them coming but I truly did! I've been choosing blouses with big puffy sleeves and I've seen how flattering they are and it seems celebrities and top designers have seen the same because bulky sleeves are back and took over the red carpet of the Golden Globes the past Sunday. Janina Gavankar, Kaitlyn Dever, Olivia Colman, Isla Fisher, Cate Blanchet, Bel Powley, Jodie Comer, Dakota Fanning, Zoey Deutch... even Beyoncé were some of the celebrities that chose to wear them.

No Spray Tan:

The Awards Season always occur during the Winter Season and that always led celebrities to draw upon the spray tan so that their skins could look tanned and pretty. But this year was different. The vast majority of the actresses (and the actors too!) decided to show their natural skins, without the effect of the sun (or the tan spray) on them. And the truth is that it was something that stood out and that people liked a lot, especially in times of raising awareness about the dangers of tanning.

Sapphire Blue:

Although the color of the year 2020 chosen by Pantone was the Classic Blue, the first gala of the Awards Season chose another shade of blue to turn into a trend. Celebrities like Ana de Armas, Beannie Fieldstein, Glenn Close and Shailene Woodley wore it into different materials and they were all goals!
